it’s such a perfect day… I’m glad I spent it with you

Today was the big day for Remi’s interview at the US Consulate in Vancouver.

He just called me with the news. He got his visa!!!!

After going through all the security, he had to wait in one line and present his paperwork to an officer who made sure it was all there. Then he had to sit and wait for his name to be called. The immigration officer asked him about how we met, how long we’ve been together and then he looked through the evidence and paperwork. When Remi explained how we met at the Star Wars line, the officer said he had heard about the line and how crazy we are. He ended up talking more about legos in his interview than anything else with the officer.

Remi had put in a photo of us from the dragon roller coaster at Legoland so the guy asked about that. And then the next photo was Remi and I at my place with lots of lego in the background. So the officer remarked that we must love lego and then they both talked about lego as the guy had a young kid and wasn’t sure what sets to get him for Xmas. Remi gave him some recommendations.

And that was it. When he goes through the border, he’ll have to do a mini-interview again, just to verify that he indeed does have a visa. And there’s no problem with driving him down with all his stuff. So on January 6 I’ll be headed up to Vancouver to bring my boy back where he belongs. Once he enters the country, we have 90 days to get married and start the next step in filing paperwork to get him permanent residence status.

We’ll worry about that come January but right now, I’m just so excited and relieved!

give me one more chance to keep you satisfied

Jonathan is going to play Elvis in a mini-series for CBS that starts filming next month and airs in May. I still don’t know how I feel about this. This will be great exposure for him to American audiences and finally, he might do talk shows in the US but playing a legend like Elvis? Such pressure and so much to live up to. At least this has the approval of the Elvis estate. But I’m feeling awfully anxious about this. Just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Dec 14 2004

if you love me, I’ll protect you however I can

New Duran Duran video is out.

As Stephanie said about Simon after she saw the video:

comicgrrl: good god, why is he so hot
comicgrrl: it’s not fair
comicgrrl: he gets hotter every minute he’s alive

Along with Simon… Roger, Nick, JT all look drool worthy in the video. It’s ridiculous. Aging rock stars aren’t supposed to get even more hot as they get older but that’s Duran Duran for you. And there are star versions of them too. Cause well… they are gods.

music news

Lots of cool happenings in the music world.

First up… Ash’s latest album Meltdown is FINALLY getting a release in the US. From Filter:

Record Collection is proud to announce the US release of ASH’s new album Meltdown on March 8th 2005. The album’s release will coincide with a new Lucas Arts Star Wars videogame Republic Commando that features ASH’s single “Clones” as the theme song. This marks the first time Lucas Arts has ever used a band’s song in anything Star Wars related. The US release will feature exclusive bonus tracks and DVD footage not available on the European full length version of Meltdown.

Ash will tour the US in support of Meltdown this Spring.

Such Star Wars geeks. Love it!

Also from Filter:

According to BBC’s Channel 4, the newest album from post-Joy Division legends New Order will be released in February. The scheduled title is No Pain No Gain.

Oh, and I get to see the Hives tomorrow. And Elefant and the French Kicks are doing shows next month. Fun times ahead!

woot!

You know… things have been going swell. The Art Show for ORC is shaping up nicely. I got to see Duran Duran 3 times in 4 days and had an AMAZING time doing so. Yah, I’m going to miss an incredible line up Saturday for KROQ Acoustic Christmas. But I’ve seen almost all of those bands many times before and I’ll be heading to my work Xmas party that is always fun and I usually score a great present so it’s not something I’m going to cry over missing.

And the Grammy’s get more boring and pointless every year, but still it’s cool to see The Killers and Franz Ferdinand got 3 nods each.

Then, today Remi got a letter from the Vancouver consulate. Finally, he hears from them regarding his visa appointment. Yeah, well, the appointment was yesterday. They sent the letter with only 5 days notice and it arrived late. Argh!

Luckily, he was able to reschedule with no problems and just had to change his flight back to Edmonton for the holidays back a day. So now on December 22, he’ll go in for his visa interview. As long as that goes well, and we don’t see any reason for it not to, then Remi will get his visa… we started this whole process back in June so it’s a relief it’s finally all happening. He can come in January, we can have our civil ceremony, and then the next stage of the process starts… Changing his status from his fiance visa to permanent resident. I don’t want to think too hard about that yet as I know it’s going to be even more paperwork and headaches. At least this first step is almost done. I can celebrate he’s got his appointment. Whew!
