Coachella Extends Festival To 3 Days In ’07

I’m not sure I like this news. 3 days in that heat?!? And will they really be able to fill a bill spread over 3 days? I don’t know. I’m skeptical.

don’t push me coz i am close to the edge

Happy Feet was the cutest of the cute. My nephew approved of all the singing and dancing. Robin Williams just makes it so memorable too. And the babies! SO OMG CUTE! It has a nice environmental message too. Idealistic type ending… if only that could happen in the real world. Sigh.

The Hobbit news is not producing much effect on me. LOTR fangirls/boys are shitting bricks and saying the world is ending because of this… but me? I’m not a fan of Peter Jackson. I’m a fan of Tolkien and his novels. I’m a fan of Weta and the amazing job they did with the art direction, props, and special effects. I did enjoy the movies. A lot. But I have serious gianormous issues with all 3 of them despite many of the wonderful and amazing things that were done just right. I was rather wary of PJ tackling The Hobbit… mostly because I was worried he would gore it up too much. And The Hobbit is truly a children’s book at heart and it needs to be treated as such. So I’m still hopeful. If they get the right director, The Hobbit could be a magical and wondrous movie. It’s a lean enough story to really be adapted well… the talk of another LOTR prequel (that is not Silmarillion based) though makes me queasy.

wii!

wii fun!

We waited in line overnight at our local target and got ticket #27.

The Wii is so awesome. I don’t even know where to begin.

Playing Wii Tennis, I smacked Remi in the shoulder with my wiimote. Hard. You definitely need to wear those wrist straps and keep some distance between players when playing the sport games. Playing Wii Boxing is a total workout for the arms. I have video proof.

The new Zelda is so pretty but I have to be patient since Remi is playing it first.

We also picked up Rayman and Ulimate Alliance. Rayman is such twisted fun (I love the French!) Have not played much of Ulimate Alliance but you can play as Thor and Iceman! That sells it for me.

And I’m very tempted to bring the Wii over to my parents for Thanksgiving and have them try it out. I think they would actually “get” video games because of the ease of the controller.

So in conclusion, if you didn’t know by now… I love the Wii!

Yoshi!

Remi got me Yoshi’s Island DS as a surprise on Wednesday.

The original Yoshi’s Island for the Super Nintendo is my favorite video game of all time.

The new one? So awesome. So adorable. So hard. So fun.

I mean, you play as Yoshi carrying around Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby DK, and Baby Bowser. The levels are long and full of hidden goodies. And some levels I can’t wait to play again cause they have different routes and ways to go and explore.

I think this was partly a ploy by Remi to keep me occupied so he can play the new Zelda on the Wii. It’s a good ploy because I can totally wait to play the new Zelda because I’m so in love with Yoshi’s Island DS.

In other randomness, we saw the new James Bond movie last night. It was a bit long but very enjoyable. It was a little slow at times but otherwise, the action was intense and really well done. It’s a great rebirth for James Bond and really set a new tone for future movies. Trading flash and glamour for more grit and realism. You believe this James Bond can kill people with his bare hands.

During the movie, I had moments where I couldn’t help but imagine Clive Owen in the role. He would have been spectacular, but Daniel Craig also pulled it off. By casting someone more physical and less polished, it sold the direction the movie takes with the new James Bond. It would have never worked with any of the past Bonds or if they had cast another pretty boy. Plus I never realized that Daniel Craig is like a British Steve McQueen. He’s got the cool quiet look and piercing blue eyes… though he doesn’t have a lean physique at all. The guy is like a street thug but can still pull off a tux. All in all, very enjoyable and it actually made me excited to see the next James Bond film. And that’s just never happened before.

ridiculous

This Friday, Happy Feet, Casino Royale, and For Your Consideration all come out.

Next Wednesday, The Fountain, Deja Vu, and the Tenacious D movie comes out.

And Sunday… is the arrival of the Wii.

Plus, my brother and his family are coming this Thursday for the weekend. And next week is Thanksgiving. And uh… Christmas is like 6 weeks away.

Insanity I tell you.

At least I get to see Happy Feet with my nephew. I’m so excited for that. “Don’t push me, cause I’m close to the edge.”

you make me feel like i’m fire

Keep meaning to post but haven’t had the energy.

I’ve also been obsessing over One Tree Hill. Uh. Don’t ask.

New Orleans was amazing fun. We stayed at an adorable little hotel in the French Quarter that ended up being a block away from the most gay corner of all New Orleans (St. Ann and Bourbon in case you’re interested.) I felt at home immediately. Just walking the streets and shopping in cute stores… having cafe au lait and beignets every day, being with my pals and having a wonderful time together.

And to top it off. Duran Duran.

Seeing Duran again was… incredible. Definitely one of the best shows of theirs I’ve ever been to. We were right in front. Getting up super early, being first in line, doing a mad dash to the stage, and all the hours of waiting to be in the best spot ever was totally worth it. Especially when the first notes of “Serious” started playing. You can totally hear us in this You Tube clip losing our minds! Of course, all these photographers in front of us noticed and started taking our picture. This is a song we’ve never seen live. And this version… mixed with “Nice”, is just… unbelievably fantastic. They also did a cover of “House of the Rising Sun” for the first and probably only time. Simon was sexy and the vibe of the song was so haunting and lovely. That really should be a b-side. Like now.

I’ve seen Duran Duran an enormous amount of times now. This entire experience though really ranks up there as one of the most special and fun. The guys sounded great and seemed to really be enjoying themselves (sans Andy – don’t even get me started.) I’m so glad we made the trip. And I’d do it all over again if given the chance. Heck, when we were at the airport to head home, we were saying we should just hop on a plane to get to Niagara Falls for the next show but alas… back to the real world.
