brrrrrrrrrrr

Up north. Edmonton is covered with fresh snow. FREEZING.

Dealing. I think Remi has been complaining about the cold way more than me. His first remark when we walked outside of the airport was “How can anyone live here?”

Every night we have something going on. Tonight is a big turkey dinner with one side of the family and tomorrow is a big ham dinner with another side of the family. I think they’re trying to fatten me up. It’s working.

Year in Review

Go to your Archives/Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2007. Post the first few lines of it in your journal, and that’s your “Year In Review.”

January: December went by so fast… and now it’s already the 2nd day of the new year. Insanity.

February: Holy crap! This trailer gives me goosebumps!

March: Last night was just what I needed. Though I did end the night with an extremely sore good leg (from relying on it way too much – maybe I need a fancy cane)… I came away with a new crush and a favorite new band.

April: Posted photos from my recent trip to meet my new adorable nephew Brendan. Took some of the best photos of my nephew Evan ever. He is currently obsessed with pirates. And makes a pretty fine one too.

May: Coachella write up coming. Incredibly awesome weekend. Full of amazing music and memories with dear friends.

June: I keep meaning to post. But then I get busy, tired, uninspired. So much has been going on too that I want to write down and be able to look back on years from now. I mean, that’s really a big reason I keep this blog going. But I digress…

July: Did I really pay to see Transformers? Oh yes, I did. I had no desire to see the movie but I went along hoping it would be at least dumb and fun. It was only half that.

August: I’ve finally added some photos from our road trip… finished loading images from the first day. Will add more but there’s so many to sort through. It’s exhausting.

September: I’ve uploaded photos from day two of our road trip. I’ve been trying to finish up this post for days now but kept getting sidetracked by the heat (ugh!), remodeling projects, growing pile of laundry and chores, giving stuff away and posting things to sell on half.com (greatest site ever!), spending time with my cousin (her first time to LA), planning an upcoming trip, redesigning websites (almost finished!), Duran Duran… the usual…

October: It’s all set. I’m going to New York!!!! I don’t think it’s hit me or feels real yet… I think I’m in shock that I’m actually doing this.

November: You now can hear all of “Red Carpet Massacre” on VH1. I’d previously only heard this in a party held outside with not the best sound. And there were other factors to keep me distracted.

December: I can’t believe it’s already December. Time flying faster than I care to think too hard about.

I still remember every whispered word

I don’t even know where to begin. How about meeting David Beckham?

This week has been INSANE. Best word to describe my Spice adventures on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Spice Girls concert on Wednesday was incredible – silly, a spectacle, surprisingly emotional, fun, fun, fun…. I forgot how much I really knew every single song. I know a lot of people discredit them but a lot of their music really stands the test of time. Truly great pop music and I’m not ashamed to admit how much I enjoyed their music and their act. It’s wonderful entertainment.

It also helped that the crowd was so hyped up. People were going nuts before the show even started when they saw Tom Cruise and David Beckham in a sky box. I’ve never seen anything like it – thousands of flashbulbs going off and people jumping up and down. It was hilarious.

Highlights for the show itself were Viva Forever, Goodbye, both times they sang Spice Up Your Life, and when Mel C did her solo turn with I Turn To You (where I literally got a little weak in the knees from jumping up and down and screaming). The very best was Holler though. Fantastic.

Mel C at the Mint on Thursday was awesome. I love her music, her cheeky humor, the way she gives 100% into every single note… I love her. She’s just simply amazing and so inspirational. I can’t even begin… she’s so underrated. After her wonderful set, all hell broke loose when Victoria and Mel B went up on stage and the crowd realized David Beckham was in the building.

So yah… my friends got their photo taken with David. He was really nice and was posing with everyone who went up to him. I felt bad he was being mobbed. But that was nothing compared to the madness outside… at least all the fans were being polite. I live in Los Angeles but I can honestly say I’ve never seen paparazzi much before. But at The Mint. Wow. They were all over the place. Running from the front to the back, working in teams, and not caring if cars would run them over if it meant they got their shots. No wonder Britney Spears runs over guys feet all the time. They don’t move. Will post photos later.

Back to Mel C. Took some videos from the show: Here and Now, This Time, I Turn To You. Need to get her latest album and really hope she comes back on her own to LA next year. She’s the best. :)

places you used to go when you were young look different in the dark

I can’t believe it’s already December. Time flying faster than I care to think too hard about.

Behind on everything. Only bought one Christmas present yesterday. Have not yet ordered holiday cards. Yah. Really need to get started. Does not help that Super Mario Galaxy is the bee’s knees.

Six Apart sold LiveJournal. Can’t say I’m surprised. They didn’t know what they got themselves into. And it’s definitely good that the company who owns LJ, only focuses on LJ and can give it proper attention.

Been trying to post something all day but keep getting distracted. Either by learning why John Taylor is a bass playing god, why The Beef’s acting is so impressive*, why I need to own Duran Duran’s Electro Set on both DVD and CD, re-checking show times for The Golden Compass, getting excited about possibly seeing The Spice Girls Wednesday and definitely seeing Mel C Thursday, or you know… doing some actual work.

Other random tidbits… we had planned to go camping over Thanksgiving break in Joshua Tree but Remi got a cold that wouldn’t go away. Since we had wanted to do backcountry camping, there was no way we’d be able to manage. Instead, we explored closer to Los Angeles by scrambling on rocks and oogling pretty cars.

Now need to wrap head around that I’m going to be in Edmonton in 16 days. And it’s currently 1ºF but feels like -13ºF! Brrrrrrrrrr!

*I can’t call him anything but The Beef now. He’s totally my new Gwyneth.
