Hope all who just felt that earthquake are ok (initial reports saying it’s a 5.6).
Felt it very strongly at work. It was rolling and felt like it lasted a minute and kept rolling for a while longer. Apparently, at home Baxter ran around barking a bit but then calmed down.
All cell phones seem to be down at the moment too. Get bars but all calls out are failing… and now can’t use land line. Crazy!
Yesterday, Remi and I had to take Baxter to the vet. We wanted to take him this week to get a check-up and get him mircochipped, but this was an emergency visit. Continue reading
We finally visited a rescue shelter and adopted this little guy today after falling in love with him.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us… family visits, spending time with our nephews, annual 4th of July family BBQ, 3rd year wedding anniversary, Hellboy, Val’s birthday, seeing Coldplay with Eddie (that’s a whole other post in itself)…
And well, dog wise, it’s been crazy. The Sunday after the 4th, we ended up rescuing a dog that tried to adopt us. She hung out on our porch and wanted very badly to come inside our home. But she was very thin and obviously in need of care. We brought her in to the local shelter and the very next day her owner found her. Happy reunion!
Then last night, a beagle wandered into our backyard and was rummaging in this area that has lots of tall weeds. There’s a hole there in the fence and he somehow got in that way. When we tried to go outside and check him out, he started howling and then took off.
Now today… we have a new puppy. It’s surreal. We’re very tempted to go back to the shelter and adopt another dog, but we’ll see. There were so many wonderful dogs but this little guy just stood out to us. He has such personality and is adorable and goofy. We’re not 100% sure yet on his new name, but he’s made himself right at home. We’re looking forward to making him part of our family.
Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.
The 2nd week of June I visited the city of New Orleans for the 2nd time. I’d been there before in October 2006 for Duran Duran. This time around I went for work. Conference. Presentation. Kept me busy. I did manage to have an afternoon to myself to walk around the French Quarter… shop, take photos, gaze at the amazing colors and buildings, and go a little back in time.
There’s something about walking through the Quarter (minus Bourbon St.) that feels like being in another time. You pass a doorway and peek into secret courtyards. Gas lamps still burn. Ferns hanging from balconies. Boys playing loud brass instruments on the steps of St. Louis Cathedral.
I also managed to grab lunch at Cafe Amelie. It was closed during my first visit, but I really wanted to find it again. It’s tucked into a beautiful courtyard. They serve traditional fare and even absinthe. I ate a yummy sandwich, sipped on freshly squeeze lemonade, and read a book. It was a perfect way to cool off in the shade and not be too bothered by the humidity
All too short of a trip. Very exhausting (via work ate at Nola and rode a steamboat.) But I’m glad I was able to go on this trip and experience a little more French Quarter magic.
Duran Duran played a special show with Mark Ronson in Paris the other night. Mark picked all of the songs to play for the 90 minute set and remixed the whole show. They played an incredible slow version of A View To A Kill. And this….
Trying to kill me. My favorite band in the world playing my favorite song ever (The Chauffeur) which is then MIXED into a cover of Song 2… by my other favorite band in the world. Head. Explodes.
