getting there…

NY City

I’ve been back for over 2 weeks. Feels so much longer.

Busy, busy, and more busy.

Construction work has finally started on our condo. I don’t know that I ever related the horror stories that have been going on since the fire in our complex last June of 2005. It’s been horrible to say the least. Only now are they fixing our place.

Work hectic. Life hectic.

Got a brand new car yesterday. I’m in love with it.

Put up the redesign of the JRMfansite. Almost killed me. I partly kid.

Working on other sites for other people. One is a real design job too. And… then there’s our trip to NY. I’m only now getting our photos up. I took a lot. We had an incredible time but almost feel like we needed a vacation from our vacation. The city was amazing, beautiful, crazy, hot, humid, stinky… will post more when I get the chance.

crazy

I’ve been crazy busy.

Crazy I tell you.

I’ve been meaning to post about my amazing Coachella weekend. I really have.

But work, life, planning out trips, running another art show, etc… just slamming me all over the place at the moment.

And of course, it’s now that I’ve been tackling a major redesign of my biggest site, the JRMfansite. When I say major, I mean MAJOR. I’m learning how to do more stuff with WordPress than ever plus tweaking it myself to get it to behave the way I want. And I’m also importing all that static content into a database format. It’s a serious pain in the butt and is going to take ages. But I’m excited for when it all comes together. Cause it’s going to make my life easier in the end and provide something new for visitors to the site. It’s just… so… much… work. Ugh. Tired.

I’ve also been riding my new bike to work almost every day. In hopes that I’ll get myself into shape, plus Remi has been working late every night cause of an approaching deadline. So yeah.

comics feed your soul

My pals Josh and Stephanie have finally launched their website for their joint collaboration comic book Journey Into Misery.

They will have a table in the small press section (booth N4) at this year’s Comic Con International in San Diego. If you happen to be reading this and are going, drop by and check out their comic book. Support their indie effort – they are extremely talented.

I’ll be laying out on the white shell beach of Marco Island instead of weaving my way through the masses of geeks wearing tin foil hats, celebrities touting their next bad action flick, nerds frothing at the mouth over the latest Star Wars exclusive toy, anime frat boys drooling over the hot babes, guys in Boba Fett costumes made out of construction paper, and excitable fan girls and boys swooning over everything.

I haven’t been to Comic Con since 2002. I hear it’s gotten more crowded and insane but I’d still like to go back and check things out again. That dealer’s room made my head hurt just thinking about all the possibilities to damage my wallet. It’s definitely not my style of con (just too big and too much to do). I’m more partial to how Creation runs things now a days. Intimate, well run, and really deliver the interaction with celebrities that make fans happy (don’t get me started on all the anti-Creation talk out there). You get more interaction with people one on one. It’s quieter. You can hear yourself think.

Wedding plans progessing steadily. I can’t believe it’s happening in 10 days. We’ve taken care of a lot more things but are still scrambling. Remi’s first guests from Canada come tomorrow night. Then most of his family and friends come Monday. We’ll get to celebrate his dad’s birthday (which is on the 4th) and also show them how we celebrate 4th of July with our family BBQ. It will be a great chance for them to meet many of my family and friends too.

In the midst of everything, I launched the 4th annual Jonny birthday project. We’ve already raised $100 in one day of the store being open. Hopefully, we can raise a nice donation for charity once again.

Happy Holidays!

ooh.... Jude... yummy!

Just a little Jude for a holiday treat. Or pop over to the JRMfansite where I just uploaded 90 images to the Gallery. For all who celebrate have a wonderful and fun Christmas! I hope your days are filled with love, warmth and much happiness!

give me one more chance to keep you satisfied

Jonathan is going to play Elvis in a mini-series for CBS that starts filming next month and airs in May. I still don’t know how I feel about this. This will be great exposure for him to American audiences and finally, he might do talk shows in the US but playing a legend like Elvis? Such pressure and so much to live up to. At least this has the approval of the Elvis estate. But I’m feeling awfully anxious about this. Just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Shiny hair that’s my life ambition

Quote for the week:
“Maybe for the next record we’ll sing about health care, because you know, in Sweden you could get a heart transplant for like 10 bucks, and that rocks. If anyone could make health care rock, it would be us.” – Jonas Gustavsson, from MTV.com

Ryan Adams needs to lay off the drugs. What a fricking tool.

I heart Damon.

Last night, the WB played this Return to Middle Earth hour special on TTT. It was INCREDIBLE. Made me all giddy and sappy. I swear, when Eowyn first pops up during the actual movie, I know I’m going to cry. It’s unexplainable. Miranda Otto is gorgeous, funny, and charming.

Heather has a lovely new layout up.

Last night I also got to watch and tape the repeat of The Hives on Conan O’Brien. It was BRILLIANT.

TV dates to remember: The Vines on Leno, Dec. 9 / Parker Posey on Last Call, Dec. 10 / Coldplay on Letterman, Dec. 16

For Valerie: Elijah Wood on Regis and Kelly, Dec. 13 and on Leno, Dec. 16

Joe Mac is on the Wayne Brady show tonight. I think it’s a repeat. I didn’t watch it when it first aired and I’m not going to watch it when it reairs tonight. I have not seen a single episode of Boston Public since he joined the cast. I didn’t buy a ticket to his show at the Key Club last month. I had tickets for his two Viper Room gigs last May and didn’t go (I was even there, waiting in line holding my ticket and I walked away). It’s official. I am finally, after 13 years, over Joe McIntyre. Seriously. In a way it breaks my heart. A part of me will always have this affection for Joe… the part that is still 13 years old and delirious. I was OBSESSED with Joe. It was beyond belief. I finally met the man last year (and yes, I shook like crazy and could not stop smiling for days). And it was enough. I really moved on long ago… my tastes changed and grew up, my ideals and old dreams did too. Really, it was about time.

I am not (and I think I will never be) over Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I managed to get a VCD copy of Bend It Like Beckham. Oh boy. Lovely, delightful, fun little film… and JRM was delicious. I had a feeling of pride run through me watching how well he did. It will be most fun to be able to watch this on the big screen when it comes out next April. I really liked how the whole film was shot and the dialogue and acting was strong by the whole cast. Plus… Jonny dances! The club scene was making me die. And the goodbye scene. Oh holy man… I think that kiss now ranks as one of my top 10 screen kisses… funny that Jonathan has three other screen kisses that rank just as high.

Hmm… my top screen kisses. I think at the moment I would say they are, in no particular order:
1. JRM and Ewan McGregor, Velvet Goldmine
2. JRM and Parminder K. Nagra, Bend It Like Beckham
3. JRM and Kelly Macdonald, The Loss of Sexual Innocence
4. Ewan and Nicole Kidman, Moulin Rouge (the one where Zidler catches them)
5. Isabelle Adjani and Vincent Perez, Queen Margot (the one outside after they’ve managed to meet up again)
6. Molly Ringwald and Michael Schoeffling, Sixteen Candles
7. Audrey Tautou and Mathieu Kassovitz, Amélie
8. Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd, Clueless (the kiss at the very end)
9. Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire, Spider-Man (gee, I wonder which one?)
10. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, Titanic (gee, I wonder which one?)

What are yours?

mad dashes

AHHH!!! From duranduran.com:

the sound clip
Hey Katy, I noticed a different sound clip on the main page of the site which I can’t identify – is it new, or a remix of something older?

IT IS A NEW PIECE, PART OF AN UNTITLED WORK IN PROGRESS OFF THE NEW CD!

[posted 1/24/2002]

It’s very old school sounding Duran (and very disco-ish) but man!!! I can’t wait to hear how this turns out and I can totally imagine Simon singing something to do this… oh, the drums! So nice to hear Roger again. And if this any indication of how the new album is shaping up, well, jesus, I’ll be in heaven! I keep hitting reload over and over. I can’t get enough.

All kinds of PP stuff is happening. There’s the Roxy show on Monday… and then the week the album comes out (last week in Feb), they are doing 3 different instores and two regular shows. Man! Thankfully it’s all happening in the LA area… which of course, would make sense. Some of the instores are going to be acoustic performances. That would be so interesting to see from the boys.

Yesterday I flew up to Oakland for a one day meeting… got back to LAX and was in my car by 6:30. Take all the right streets and jammed up to Beverly/La Brea to see a double feature of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Velvet Goldmine and made it there in time (got there by 7 – no clue how I managed to get there that darn fast!). AWESOME crowd. Hedwig is something I’ve been meaning to see but never got around to. It was fabulous. I got choked up during some parts. It was really amazing and the crowd really helped. Then Velvet Goldmine… man, there were some crazy people there. It was a great crowd. A lot of singing along and during the Curt Wild concert introduction, some people were acting like it was a freaking strip club. I haven’t seen VG in a long while. It was good to see it again and reminded me how brilliant Jonathan is. He was freaking only 19 when he made the film and he’s incredible. The way he moves his body, his arms, the expressions on his face, the looks in his eyes… he was Brian Slade.

It’s the weekend finally! Yeah! I have a lot of cleaning up to do at home and massive work to do on all my sites. I’m excited about getting stuff done.

And I’m starting to plan a trip in mid-Feb to go up to Vancouver to see my boy. He has reading week then so we can spend lots of time together and maybe go down to Seattle and check it out since I’ve never been… just do a lot of exploring and sight-seeing. Can’t wait!

So I did come up with a new design for this blog… but I don’t think I’m going to use it. It’s too dark… and I think I might make this part of pop-trash, like a section of it, again and not have it seperate. I don’t know… we’ll see what happens…

odd

Blogger is acting a little odd. My last entry isn’t posting to the site for some reason. Oh well… Gormenghast is airing tonight on PBS. Very cool… Jonathan Rhys Meyers is tremendous as Steerpike.
