Reply and I’ll give you a letter. Find ten songs that start with that letter and post them to your journal.
My letter is N from 07six10. However, I don’t have the means to burn them all and post them at the moment. So I may eventually edit the post later on. Here goes…
- Notorious – Duran Duran
- No Distance Left To Run – Blur
- No Good Time – Graham Coxon
- Never Is A Promise – Fiona Apple
- No Sign of Life – OK Go
- Northern Star – Leona Naess
- No Love Lost – Joy Division
- Never Saw It Coming – Jesus and Mary Chain
- Never-ending Road – Loreena McKennitt
- Never Let Me Down – Depeche Mode
Funny that out of those 10 songs, 4 start with the word “no” and 4 start with the word “never”.

Yesterday, I got flowers. It’s the first time I’ve ever been sent flowers at work. A dozen red tulips… my favorite flower… from Remi. Totally unexpected. Complete surprise. And I’m not going to lie, it absolutely warmed my heart.
After work, we went to see Music & Lyrics. It was charming, cute, hilarious, a little romantic, and just a perfect way to cap the day.

Holy crap! This trailer gives me goosebumps!
Can’t freaking wait. Julie Taymor, you are one mad genius who could really pull this off.

Happy Feet was the cutest of the cute. My nephew approved of all the singing and dancing. Robin Williams just makes it so memorable too. And the babies! SO OMG CUTE! It has a nice environmental message too. Idealistic type ending… if only that could happen in the real world. Sigh.
The Hobbit news is not producing much effect on me. LOTR fangirls/boys are shitting bricks and saying the world is ending because of this… but me? I’m not a fan of Peter Jackson. I’m a fan of Tolkien and his novels. I’m a fan of Weta and the amazing job they did with the art direction, props, and special effects. I did enjoy the movies. A lot. But I have serious gianormous issues with all 3 of them despite many of the wonderful and amazing things that were done just right. I was rather wary of PJ tackling The Hobbit… mostly because I was worried he would gore it up too much. And The Hobbit is truly a children’s book at heart and it needs to be treated as such. So I’m still hopeful. If they get the right director, The Hobbit could be a magical and wondrous movie. It’s a lean enough story to really be adapted well… the talk of another LOTR prequel (that is not Silmarillion based) though makes me queasy.

Remi got me Yoshi’s Island DS as a surprise on Wednesday.
The original Yoshi’s Island for the Super Nintendo is my favorite video game of all time.
The new one? So awesome. So adorable. So hard. So fun.
I mean, you play as Yoshi carrying around Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby DK, and Baby Bowser. The levels are long and full of hidden goodies. And some levels I can’t wait to play again cause they have different routes and ways to go and explore.
I think this was partly a ploy by Remi to keep me occupied so he can play the new Zelda on the Wii. It’s a good ploy because I can totally wait to play the new Zelda because I’m so in love with Yoshi’s Island DS.
In other randomness, we saw the new James Bond movie last night. It was a bit long but very enjoyable. It was a little slow at times but otherwise, the action was intense and really well done. It’s a great rebirth for James Bond and really set a new tone for future movies. Trading flash and glamour for more grit and realism. You believe this James Bond can kill people with his bare hands.
During the movie, I had moments where I couldn’t help but imagine Clive Owen in the role. He would have been spectacular, but Daniel Craig also pulled it off. By casting someone more physical and less polished, it sold the direction the movie takes with the new James Bond. It would have never worked with any of the past Bonds or if they had cast another pretty boy. Plus I never realized that Daniel Craig is like a British Steve McQueen. He’s got the cool quiet look and piercing blue eyes… though he doesn’t have a lean physique at all. The guy is like a street thug but can still pull off a tux. All in all, very enjoyable and it actually made me excited to see the next James Bond film. And that’s just never happened before.

This Friday, Happy Feet, Casino Royale, and For Your Consideration all come out.
Next Wednesday, The Fountain, Deja Vu, and the Tenacious D movie comes out.
And Sunday… is the arrival of the Wii.
Plus, my brother and his family are coming this Thursday for the weekend. And next week is Thanksgiving. And uh… Christmas is like 6 weeks away.
Insanity I tell you.
At least I get to see Happy Feet with my nephew. I’m so excited for that. “Don’t push me, cause I’m close to the edge.”

We leave for New York in less than 60 hours!!!!!
I’m jumping out of my skin I’m so excited. And of course, over thinking everything. Booked a car to pick us up at the airport today after mulling over many options for weeks. Checking weather reports. Making notes on places we want to visit. And planning out everything we need to pack and what we’ll be wearing. I’m driving Remi a little nuts. He’s the type of person who packs a few minutes before he needs to leave for the airport and never plans much in advance. I’m more the type of person who is ready to go the day before, has print outs of all reservations organized, and spends time rechecking my luggage to pack even lighter and more compact. I love packing for trips. I hate unpacking (At least, Remi and I have that in common…) But we balance each other with our different approaches. He helps me relax and I make sure he doesn’t forget his toothbrush or half the clothes he’ll need. Match made in heaven. Ha.
PS. I really enjoyed Lady in the Water.

Critics be damned, I can’t wait to see Lady in the Water tonight. After The Village “disappointment”, I think it’s quite popular to hate on M. Night and call him self indulgent and a one trick pony. And it doesn’t help that this new movie from what I hear is not like any of his others. Anyone going in expecting surprise endings and twists are probably going to hate it. I love the guy’s movies. All of them…. actually The Sixth Sense is the only one I don’t care much for and that we don’t own on dvd. It’s really well made but I prefer his other films. And yes, I loved The Village. It’s so beautiful and I adored the characters.
I guess this summer season, I’m just not agreeing with most critics and some of my friends. I loved X3. It was totally fun. I loved The Lake House when others wanted their money back (the Persuasion references had me at hello). I thoroughly enjoyed the new Pirates movie but HATED that kiss between Jack and Elizabeth that everyone on LJ is wetting their pants over (I could seriously go on and on about how they messed up Elizabeth). And the more I think about Superman Returns, the more I hate it (initially, I really enjoyed parts of it but it just didn’t work for me overall).
So I’m excited about Lady in the Water. I’m hopeful but going in with no expectations because judging from his past movies and my experiences with them, I really never know what I’m going to end up seeing in the end so it’s better to go in not knowing anything.
