Alright, I was going to write up this whole account of the instore at Amoeba for the French Kicks and how I then ran over to the Troubadour and saw Division of Laura Lee rock the house.
I can only write about half of that since I never made it to the Troubadour due to my needing food and then my legs feeling really wacked. I’ll get to that in a moment. First, let me gush about the French Kicks and recite all the ways I love them.

I forgot to mention two shows I recently went to. I saw Majandra Delfino perform at the Knitting Factory on the 3rd of this month. It turned out to be an enormously fun night. Majandra was pretty impressive. I wasn’t sure how she would sound live… Brendan Fehr and Nick Wechsler were there and I had a lot of fun talking with them. I have not yet seen the photos I took with them as they are on my friend’s camera. But I’ll post them soon, I hope, cause I hear they turned out really cute. Such sweet, down to earth, and unpretentious guys. Really very cool.
Also saw Sondre Lerche twice this past Monday. First, he performed at Amoeba Records and did a signing. Then he performed at the Knitting Factory a little later on. I’m glad I went to both because it showed me different sides to this young, talented performer. He really won me over. Granted, I love his album and was hoping he would be even better live… and he did not disappoint. At Amoeba he talked a lot more with the audience and was very funny… it’s always weird seeing a performance at Amoeba. The flicking of CD cases throughout the large space competes with the music being played but Sondre held his own. He just oozes this lovely and adorable charm and puts you in a good mood. The Knitting Factory was a more intimate setting. Instead of the sounds of CD cases knocking against one another, the rudeness of folks talking up a storm by the back bar where competing with Sondre and his acoustic guitar. At one point between songs, a man yelled very loudly for folks to shut the fuck up and give this guy a break. Everyone actually into the show cheered. Sondre blushed and thanked him. This didn’t really shut the jerks up for very long. But in the end, it didn’t matter. I had a smile on my face the whole time he performed. Just Sondre and his guitar. Impressing the heck out of almost everyone there. Photos will be posted one of these days. I promise.

I took this organ quiz and the results were so me it’s not even funny: You’re the LUNGS – You love life, but don’t really know what’s best for you. Sometimes you bite off more than can be chewed.
There are dozens of this quizzes I’ve seen posted on all kinds of blogs lately. They are very addicting. I am also cherry flavored (not as kinky as it sounds): You’re a sweet person to those who care the most and you have a kind heart. And I’m also a strawberry: You are caring and romantic. You are loyal to your friends. You friends can trust you. You are well loved.
Alright, Anna has a spectacular blog design… go now and bask in the glow of the green fairy. And Heather has a gorgeous new layout too.
And how awesome is this? Been making mixed cds for my pals to introduce them to the beauty and joy of Jeff Buckley’s music, if only my burner would cooperate with me.
Starsailor was very cool last night. James sang three songs, Coming Down, Way to Fall and Good Souls, by himself with just a guitar to keep him company. It was wonderful. Then the rest of the boys came out for a very casual autograph signing. There was a lot of people there which was nice to see. I was with a pretty big group of friends and so we were a little scattered throughout the line. After Eddie went by (he shook Ben’s hand and I was happy for him since he is in love with Ben), I was trying to get his attention to take pictures since he was just standing there by the end of the table. He was being difficult and I didn’t want to yell out or anything. James just watched us interacting and smiled at me when I rolled my eyes.
For some reason, I got flustered when I went up for my turn. I asked Barry how he was doing and then he got very excited about the cd booklet I was asking them to sign. It’s for their DVD single of Good Souls and they hadn’t seen it yet. So then Barry, James and Ben proceeded to pass it back and forth and tease each other about it concluding in Ben telling Barry that in his picture he has tits. It was hilarious. Barry and Ben smoked from time to time even though it’s illegal. And James drank a Corona (great choice after just singing with a show to do the next day). I was at a loss for words. I answered Barry’s question about where the booklet was from but I just didn’t say much else. When I got to James, I told him how wonderful his performance was and thanked him. He was very sweet. He signed the booklet and put down ‘love’ with it which I didn’t notice until later. All in all, it was a cool night. I got a lot of free stuff that Crapital handed out and Amoeba was pretty cool to those we were waiting a long time.
I’m very excited to see them tonight because like I predicted, James was on KCRW yesterday and he said that the show would be a double-bill. Both bands would do full sets. How rad is that?
So no Donnie for the celeb hockey game. I’m sad. I guess he didn’t make the team or something – I don’t really understand the whole set-up. But Brendan is going to be there so that’s okay then. And all kinds of shows are coming up… Nelly Furtado, Gorillaz, another Mellowdrone show… keeps me busy. Keeps me going… but doesn’t keep me counting the days until I see my babe again.
