Beds are Burning

This news excites me for several reasons:

  1. Duran Duran working with Geldof again. Always a good thing.
  2. Milla Jovovich singing again. YES! Her solo work is extremely underrated.
  3. Beds are Burning is a song I loved growing up and has aged well.
  4. Raising awareness about climate change. Again, always a good thing.

magical powers

Blur reunion madness started with last Saturday’s show to 150 people at the East Anglian Railway Museum… the scene of one of their first public performances ever. Videos are now popping up:

Lots more here. They followed that up by playing a last minute surprise gig at Rough Trade records last night in London. 11 more shows between now and July 12 including their 2 sold out shows at Hyde Park. Lots of speculation they’ll announce more European and US tour dates soon. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!

explosion

The T in the Park line up this year kills me.

JAMES, Keane, Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, BLUR… If only DD were added, then I think I’d explode.

Damon and Graham performed last Thursday together for the first time publicly in 10 years at the NME awards. Amazing… sigh.

Time to freak out!

From Blur’s website:

Blur will play a live show in Hyde Park in Summer 2009.

Graham Coxon will join Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn onstage for this first time since their Royal Festival Hall performance in 2000.

The concert will take place at London’s Hyde Park on Friday 3rd July 2009, and tickets will be on general sale from 9am Friday 12th December 2008 at www.livenation.co.uk.

I’m seriously considering trying to buy tickets. I’m crazy. This is crazy.

More details from NME and video on LiveNation. Damon and Graham on this week’s new cover with a full interview.

It’s really going to happen. :)

oh please god

From NME:

Damon Albarn: ‘Blur are reforming for rehearsals’
All four band members will reunite in 2009, says singer

Damon Albarn has confirmed that Blur will be reuniting next year.

The singer revealed his old band, including guitarist Graham Coxon, will be working together. Albarn made the comments just before a special one-off performance of his opera ‘Monkey: Journey To The West’ at the BBC Radio Theatre in London this afternoon (November 25).

Before playing a composition that had been specially re-arranged for the stripped-down performance, Albarn was asked by the host Janice Long whether Blur will be playing next year.

“Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we’re into it,” he said.

Rumors swirling they might play Coachella next year. OMG! WTF! PLEASE! DYING!

mind blowing

Duran Duran played a special show with Mark Ronson in Paris the other night. Mark picked all of the songs to play for the 90 minute set and remixed the whole show. They played an incredible slow version of A View To A Kill. And this….

Trying to kill me. My favorite band in the world playing my favorite song ever (The Chauffeur) which is then MIXED into a cover of Song 2… by my other favorite band in the world. Head. Explodes.
