so soon just after you’ve gone, my senses sharpen

What a weekend. And a couple of days. My voice is pretty much gone. Too much screaming, running around, jumping around, and definitely not enough sleep. But I feel excellent! Be forewarned, this post is LONG. Ok.

in all that exists none have your beauty

This summer is going to be nuts.

First… June is the month of Blur. Got my plane tickets for BC and car rental reservation to make the trip to Seattle. Just need to get my Vegas plane ticket booked and all systems go.

July… shaping up to be the month of operation Duran Duran. July 17. Pacific Amphitheatre. Since the pre-sale stunk, will be attempting to get tickets tomorrow morning. Wish me loads of luck to ward off all the psycho Duranies so I can score some good seats. Granted, I’m a pretty scary fan myself but unless you really know the Duran scene, don’t judge. It’s hardcore and nuts. I’ve been waiting a gazillion years for this. I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Add that show with some rumors of other shows happening around that time and I am one excited, nervous, scared, thrilled, happy camper.

August… Dave Gahan at the House of Blues in Vegas. Whoot. Along with The Datsuns playing on my birthday. Double whoot.

Oh yeah, missed the premiere of the new season of The Amazing Race. I’ve never watched this show before but now my friend is on it so I’ve gotta watch him make a fool of himself now.

My little trip to Vancouver over this past weekend was amazing. It went by too fast but then my trips always do. The Ash show in Seattle was a good test run for Blur next month. It was an amazing show except for the sleeping crowd but I was able to give Tim a gift that he loved. Check out the photos I snapped on Rock Star. I’ll be putting up photos from Tuesday’s show soon… and that show at the El Rey here in LA was one of the best shows I’ve been to this year. It was definitely the best Ash show I’ve gone too. Wonderful energy from the band and crowd.

And man… so much to talk about it and no time to write… need to go into details about American Idol, my Vancouver trip, Matrix… but I’ve got Finding Nemo tonight. And Duran Duran tickets to buy tomorrow. And fanlistings to update and build. And fansites to update and maintain. And… and… and… at some point I need to sleep. Drinking all this caffeine today certainly can’t help! I’m such a bundle of energy right now that I can’t sit still! AHHHHH!!!!

when you walk in all the fairy boys are pale and nervous

The Mellowdrone show on Wednesday was lovely. Though the set was too short (for good reason it turns out), Jonathan once again impressed me. I felt this was one of his strongest and more playful performances I’ve seen in a while.

It’s certainly something to be surrounded by new fans and curious folks in a packed Troubadour who are all there to see Mellowdrone. Vastly different from the times I’ve seen him in a small bar with 12 other people where he goes on to sample my friend’s laugh and use it in a song.

If you have not checked out his EP, what are you waiting for? You can download all the songs on his website or buy a copy of the EP online for darn cheap.

Coachella is tomorrow. I’m so jumpy and excited about it. They announced the schedule. Only one major conflict for me… Hot Hot Heat conflicts with Blur and that is so wrong. And it looks like I’ll be dancing to Interpol as it all ends.

Speaking of Blur… check out their new video for Crazy Beat on MTV of all places! Swoon. And check out there performance on Jo Whiley. And apparently, in a LA radio interview today, it was mentioned that one Alex James is lost in Mexico without his passport. And this happens often. No wonder he had trouble getting into this country. Let’s see if he turns up on the Craig Kilborn show tonight.

Be still my Duranie heart. Finally. Duran Duran are doing 4 shows in Japan in July. More dates are expected. And damn, they better announce more soon or I’m seriously considering going into further debt to make my first trip to Japan. No joke. These shows will be the first time all 5 original members have performed together since Live Aid in 1985. That’s 18 years! I guess it’s kind of fitting that they will play in Japan first (possibly) as that is where Simon, Nick and Warren played their last show together as Duran Duran.

The box set (all their singles from 81-85) is due out June 10 in the US, May 12th everwhere else. So I’m thinking they may do some things in the US in June too to help promote its release. Right?

For all those who were concerned or just merely curious, Miss Modern Age made it to LA and is alive and currently sleeping on my couch.

Radiohead @ the Bowl

Radiohead was amazing. The crowd was pretty lame. Too many potsmokers. It was gross. They did two encores and then the crowd was able to get Thom to come back out for one last song. He performed alone with just a guitar, saying that we were stuck with only him since the rest of the band was off getting drunk backstage. Thom didn’t talk too much but he made a crack about how we liked New York since they have water and power. The crowd booed him which was pretty cool. He played with the camera at one point and the crowd went nuts. The music these five guys make is incredible and the encores where awesome. And it was so rad when Thom came back out for a third one. By then Eddie and I had moved our way up like 15 rows and were standing right near Jacques from Phantom Planet…. and on that note….

We freaked a bit before the show. We were scanning the audience for JT who we never saw so who knows if he was even there. And instead found 4 of the Phantom Planet boys sitting in the same section as we were. Eddie saw Jacques first standing up and was like, is that Jacques? He went down to check it out and found Jacques, Alex, Darren and Jason. No Sam unfortunately. People were going up to them saying hi and taking pictures but I just didn’t have the guts. I didn’t want to bother them. I kicked myself after the show since they were in their row hanging out for a good 5 to 10 minutes after the last encore. But we were busy on our mission to find JT. We made it down to the pit but didn’t find him… found Neil Finn of Crowded House instead. Walked right by him.

By the time we went back to see if the Phantom boys were still there, they were gone. So we made our way out of the Bowl trying to figure out where to go next. And all of sudden Jared Leto walks right by us. We looked each other straight in the eye for a very long second. He was looking very hippish and grungy but still looking gorgeous. So Eddie and I make our way behind the bowl and to the band entrance area on the other side.

We see Alicia Silverstone next and then I got a little excited cause I saw Colin Hanks. He was so cute. He had on these glasses and was dressed really cute. I didn’t have the nerve to say anything to him and he was with friends and it just wasn’t the place in my opinion. But we ended up leaving that area at the same time as he did and so I ended up by accident walking beside him for a little bit and then he was right in front of me and I could hear him chatting with his friend. He light up a cigarette. Didn’t know he smoked. A group of us walked down the hill for a ways and then Colin went off in a different direction.

So we walk further down the hill to where the after party is and I made my way through this group of people and Jared Leto almost runs right into me. I dodge out of the way as he takes off and pass Cameron Diaz and Bencio Del Toro. We go to sit on this little fence and proceed to watch Jared come back and Bencio, Cameron and Jared then finding their limo and getting in while saying goodbye to their friends.

As if that wasn’t enough, before we get up to leave, Tom Green and Drew Barrymore pass by to get to their car. It was a night of star spotting that’s for sure. I am sure there were a lot of other people there. It was that type of show. It didn’t feel like the crowd was filled with die hard Radiohead fans but rather people who wanted to go to the show just so they could say they went and appear hip. Whatever. It’s all about the music people and that’s why I was there. Our little star gazing adventure afterwards stemmed from our mission to find John Taylor. All in all it was a fun night.

somewhat sane

So much has been going on with me it’s a wonder I’m still somewhat sane.

Last week the Moulin Rouge soundtrack came out. It’s incredible. I am going to have serious heart problems when I watch the film tomorrow night.

Last Tuesday was definitely new music day. I bought 4 new cds that were released that day. Weezer, Joe McIntyre, The Go-Go’s and Depeche Mode. I’ve been too busy to listen to any of them except for Weezer and Joe’s. So far, amazing! Joe sounds great and is adorable. Weezer rocks! So glad they have come back.

They’ve been filming a movie near where I work. It’s so frustrating. They filmed in our building a couple of days and one day while we were in the office. They kept telling us to be quiet. I was actually sshhed. I was so annoyed I told the dude whatever and kept talking. Jake Busey is like 8 feet tall. Had to walk past him when I went to the bathroom. And Adam Garcia is pretty nice looking. He was walking around our desks cause I guess he was bored. They both wore horrible outfits. Orange band uniforms or something. The office was so not starstruck it was funny. But it will be neat to see our office in the finished film.

So the official Duran Duran website finally made the announcement that Warren has left and that the original band members are getting back together for an album and tour. I’m still nervous and still feel sad about the whole thing. But if I see Roger Taylor next year, well… I can’t even begin to imagine.

Roswell got cancelled by the stupidest network somehow still alive but got picked up official by UPN. YEAH!!!! There is still hope! And there is going to be a full 22 episode 3rd season! Now I can watch the season finale knowing that. I have to have the kleenex ready cause the preview made me tear up so I know this is going to be emotional to watch. I can’t wait.

Life is so… up in the air for me. Too much is happening and so much is unclear. I miss my love. I know I’m not healthy, emotionally or physically. I am certainly not happy being apart from the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I just hope that we finally get a little luck and things start going our way for once. But no matter what, I’m not giving up.

heaven

I am in heaven.

Duran Duran added all this amazing content to their website. Their photo gallery is incredible. It’s so original and it’s what official sites should be like… they should contain the artist’s vision and style and fill it with their personality and what fans want.

Ahhh….

DD again @ HOB

So last night there was drama at the show. But to make a long story short, I cried cause I’m too damn sensitive and was actually called George W. Bush as an insult. I’m just not used to being called ugly names everyday by two huge guys for trying to get two inches of space in order to breathe. Way too physical of a show last night. And yes, I don’t think they have shows like this in Omaha! So go home! (Note – the two mean assholes that literally 30 girls wanted to kill for me were from there but I mean no offense to anyone from that city aside from the already mentioned idiots.)

It was great fun of course though two chants of Late Bar didn’t do the trick and Simon definitely heard us. I was right in front of him – finally against the rail. The LeBon girls were there. And all in all, it rocked. I was right in front of Simon and boy did we get a view! Plenty of Simon moments… after one encore, I was calling for Warren to come over because he never really reaches down to the audience. Instead, Simon does a bow and takes my hand and gives it a firm shake. That was funny…

Night #3 was much better… the show was rocking… Warren kicked some major ass during ‘Ordinary World’. And they played ‘Secret Oktober’ and ‘Friends of Mine’ and ‘Planet Earth’. I also got to talk briefly to Warren and told him they better play Late Bar. He is such a down to earth sweetheart.

I’m exhausted. Two more nights. I’ll cry when it’s all over. Maybe more from the physically pain than anything else. Thank god it’s Labor Day weekend. I’ll have a bit of time to recover before it’s back to work. Back to real life.

More DD @ HOB

My feet are aching. My ears are still ringing.

I need to get earplugs bad. And I’ll be doing that along with getting insoles and picking up the photos I dropped off this morning. Took a whole roll of film last night.

Awesome time. Better than the first night. Totally rocking. Yasmin was there sans kids. Lovely. She is seriously one of the most beautiful women on the planet. I’ve never seen her in person so I was in awe.

They played ‘Anyone Out There’ and I almost cried. I got teary eyed. And they also played ‘All She Wants Is’ and ‘Wild Boys’. I’m glad they are mixing it up though they teased us with not playing ‘Late Bar’. Finally succeeded in getting a group of us to chant for the song and I think the guys heard us. When they came back for an encore, Simon said, ‘Should we tell them about Late Bar?” And Warren said something to the effect of, “Tonight isn’t the night for that one, you’ll have to wait…”

Afterwards, I walked out with two of my friends and we noticed their tour manager waiting out front with security. And sure enough, a limo pulled up right next to the sidewalk we stopped at. And then Yasmin walks out – stunning! And then Warren and Simon walk out. We were able to tell them as they walked by what an awesome show it was. And that was it…

So now I’m recovering. Going to fetch the photos at lunch and track down some mags I need to get.

On a side note, I think I’m going to either redesign my personal site yet again though I do love this layout or make my log look totally different and have a link icon on the main page somewhere to come straight here. I don’t know yet. We’ll see…
