The weather has been wildly unpredictable the last couple of days.
Cold. Hot. Rain. Wind.
This morning, after eating a quick breakfast, I enjoyed a gaze out of the main window in the family room. There are always hummingbirds in the early hours to be found enjoying the purple flowers in our side garden. They hover in front of our window, sometimes two at a time, almost like they are peeking inside to check up on us. Or so we like to think.
The sky was overcast and patches of fog were not yet lifting off the tops of houses below us. I watched enchanted by a red hued hummingbird who drank nectar from several flowers before perching on a branch of bogunvia, wings no longer fluttering at 50 times per second. I gasped. The bird took a moment and then went back into the air, quick as can be, and returned to drinking nectar. It was incredible.
Every day, little things like this just make me fall more in love with our new home.

Just spent the past few days moving into our new home (and still crazy enough to manage two Duran Duran shows this weekend too.)
I’m sore, overwhelmed, full of emotions, thrilled, excited, tired, happy.
I love our new house. It doesn’t quite feel like our home yet because there’s boxes everywhere and we haven’t yet made it our own. But I know it will get there in time.
I love the view from our new house. Cars whizzing down below on the 10 freeway. Hollywood Hills and San Gabriel Mountains in the background. Hollywood sign visible from the roof of our garage. At night, the city lights are like glittery gems or fairies filling up the sky. Squirrels run all over the back and front yards. And the birds! It’s a haven for an amazing variety of birds. A family of hawks live in the tall redwood in our front yard. Finches use puddles in our garden for baths. Songbirds wake us up to the rising sun every morning. It’s bliss.
To top it off, I saw my favorite band in the world with new and old friends. It’s always a reunion of sorts at shows like these. Meeting up with old pals and meeting new ones (randomly met someone from my Tiger List days last night). Both shows were incredible and quite emotional (for those who couldn’t be dancing with us). The guys sounded and looked fabulous. Their music always has a way to heal, to inspire, and to whip up crowds into a dancing frenzy. I’m looking forward to the San Diego show on Thursday as a nice way to cap off this tour.
And looking even more towards the future… of making our new house into our home and planning the next adventure, wherever it may take us.
ps. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Sunday we moved out of our condo.
By Tuesday morning everything was cleaned up. Appliance manuals, extra light bulbs, cleaner for the stove, and laundry cards left for the new owners.
I have to admit, I got a little sad when we closed the front door and locked up for the last time. This condo was my very first place that was completely my own. While I’m excited for the new house, I will always have fond memories of this place.
We did our final walk through yesterday of the new house and passed off our condo keys to our agent.
Now we are awaiting the phone call this afternoon that the title change has gone through and we can pick up the keys to our new house!
Saturday we’ll be unloading the very full truck… and then the unpacking and decorating begins. More photos to come!

Since I’m so wired right now, I’m only capable of posting in list form. Barely.
- The new Phantom Planet album is so good it’s killing me.
- This remake better not happen!
- Getting your site hacked two times in a week BLOWS. People are such schmucks.
- OTH was awful for my ship this week (despite a beautiful 10 second scene at the end). And the spoilers are just getting worse and worse. Sigh.
- Packing/moving seriously sucks. I hope we don’t have to do this too many times in our lifetime.
- I’m ridiculously excited to get the keys to our new house. I’m not all that sad to be leaving our condo. I thought I would be, but right now, I can’t wait. Every time I hear the lady above us stomping around or when I have to do laundry… can’t freakin’ wait.
- I truly love my job, but right now, things are sad and sucky.
- Seeing Scissors for Lefty tonight couldn’t be better timing. I need a night to lose myself in music.
