beautiful
So looking forward to their show in Los Angeles Thanksgiving weekend.
Behold, OK Go‘s awesome new video for End Love is now online, featuring Orange Bill, the goose!
Watch for us in the blur… starting at 3:27.
Friday night was magical fun.
Premiere party for OK Go’s new video at LACMA… featuring pieces of the Rube Goldberg machine from the video, a DJ set by Tim, and an acoustic set by the band (minus Dan).
Half the party was on a rooftop terrace with the lights of Los Angeles all around. The short set was lovely and included my favorite “Last Leaf” and a cover of the Pixies’ “Wave of Mutilation”.
All that and I got to find out just how big a fan of LEGO a certain lead singer truly is.
Yay! OK Go’s new album is out today and their new awesome video for This Too Shall Pass is up. All done in a single shot with the Notre Dame marching band backing them up.
Earlier awesome video for WTF below.
You can listen to the new album on Myspace. Last Leaf is brilliant. I about died when I heard it live last spring. So achingly beautiful.
If you should be
the last autumn leaf
hanging from a tree
I’d still be here
waiting on the breeze
to bring you down to me
I love this band to pieces. Hurry up and tour the US already!
Holy crap, OK Go have been nominated for a Grammy!
Best Short Form Music Video – Here It Goes Again
I remember when I first saw them opening for the Vines at the Roxy back in August 2002. They blew me away and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s just awesome to see how well they are doing and how far they have come. And looking at their competition for the Best Music Video Grammy, they really should win. Hands down.
I just saw them last Monday for a taping of Kimmel. It airs on Dec. 20th and you shouldn’t miss it. Damien sings the sexiest Christmas carol… EVER. They filmed it on the outdoor stage which shocked us. It was so windy and cold. They performed 3 more songs after “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. The only thing that sucked was it left me sad… wanting a full set from them. Next time… next time.
Like seriously. I don’t know whether to laugh or hit my head to make it hurt even more.
I think I’m laughing.
“A Million Ways” was nominated for Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards. They’re going up against Gnarls Barkley, Kayne West, Justice Vs Simian, and Pink. What the hell is going on?!
OK Go is playing the Troubadour next month but the shows are already sold out and I couldn’t go anyways cause of New Orleans. I’m bummed because I haven’t missed one of their LA shows in years now… will try to get tickets for the show in Pomona.
Remi says they are going to take over the world with their videos.
I hope he’s right.
I’m slowly adding photos from our NY trip to Flickr. Getting there…
I got sucked into watching all of last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. I wanted to see a few of the performances… and well, before I knew it, I had watched almost the whole thing (between flipping when I couldn’t take watching acceptance speeches by the likes of the Pussycat Dolls). It was only worth it for the zany Jack Black and Kyle Cass moments and the performances by OK Go (who I was supposed to see Tuesday night but they cancelled their gig understandably to do this instead) and Christina (can’t stop listening to it). While I love the new Killers song, their performance felt rather anti-climatic, through no fault of their own. MTV couldn’t even spring for some confetti? It seemed tacked on there at the end.
I was surprisingly impressed by The All-American Rejects. Beyonce gave a great diva performance. What else… Justin needs to stop thinking he can beat box. Jack White has no sense of humor but then we already knew that. Their presentation to Hype Williams was ridiculously overdone (don’t get me started on how they can go overboard for this but completely mess up something simple for their award to Duran Duran a couple years ago). It was adorable when Abigail Breslin couldn’t read the winner for Best New Artist. I still think Kayne West is insane. Panic! at the whatever sucked. And I can’t believe their wannabe Tim Burton meets Moulin Rouge mess actually won Video of the Year…
I had no idea how big the attention has got for OK Go. They were on Letterman last night… and Damien was on the Colbert Report last week. And apparently, their treadmill video has been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube. And they were on MTV. I don’t think MTV has ever played one of their videos. It’s crazy… the power of the internet. I only hope that people look beyond the goofy videos and hear the amazing music too.
