it’s a cartoon coyote eternity before I drop down to you

You know your boyfriend is the coolest when he gets you The Atlas of Middle Earth, Vicks Vapor Rub, and the Punch Drunk Love DVD for your birthday. I’m one lucky girl.

Hugs to: Zoe, Frannie, Katie, Valerie, Val, and Mishie. Hug and slap to the head to: Jason. Dude I’m not that old. Pssh.

I have no tickets for any of the Radiohead shows next month. They proved almost impossible to nab unless you wanted crap seats in the boonies where Thom and company would be the size of large ants. But I’ve got tickets for both HHH shows (The French Kicks are opening for one show – whoot!). So now I’m all Radio who?

Radiohead @ the Bowl

Radiohead was amazing. The crowd was pretty lame. Too many potsmokers. It was gross. They did two encores and then the crowd was able to get Thom to come back out for one last song. He performed alone with just a guitar, saying that we were stuck with only him since the rest of the band was off getting drunk backstage. Thom didn’t talk too much but he made a crack about how we liked New York since they have water and power. The crowd booed him which was pretty cool. He played with the camera at one point and the crowd went nuts. The music these five guys make is incredible and the encores where awesome. And it was so rad when Thom came back out for a third one. By then Eddie and I had moved our way up like 15 rows and were standing right near Jacques from Phantom Planet…. and on that note….

We freaked a bit before the show. We were scanning the audience for JT who we never saw so who knows if he was even there. And instead found 4 of the Phantom Planet boys sitting in the same section as we were. Eddie saw Jacques first standing up and was like, is that Jacques? He went down to check it out and found Jacques, Alex, Darren and Jason. No Sam unfortunately. People were going up to them saying hi and taking pictures but I just didn’t have the guts. I didn’t want to bother them. I kicked myself after the show since they were in their row hanging out for a good 5 to 10 minutes after the last encore. But we were busy on our mission to find JT. We made it down to the pit but didn’t find him… found Neil Finn of Crowded House instead. Walked right by him.

By the time we went back to see if the Phantom boys were still there, they were gone. So we made our way out of the Bowl trying to figure out where to go next. And all of sudden Jared Leto walks right by us. We looked each other straight in the eye for a very long second. He was looking very hippish and grungy but still looking gorgeous. So Eddie and I make our way behind the bowl and to the band entrance area on the other side.

We see Alicia Silverstone next and then I got a little excited cause I saw Colin Hanks. He was so cute. He had on these glasses and was dressed really cute. I didn’t have the nerve to say anything to him and he was with friends and it just wasn’t the place in my opinion. But we ended up leaving that area at the same time as he did and so I ended up by accident walking beside him for a little bit and then he was right in front of me and I could hear him chatting with his friend. He light up a cigarette. Didn’t know he smoked. A group of us walked down the hill for a ways and then Colin went off in a different direction.

So we walk further down the hill to where the after party is and I made my way through this group of people and Jared Leto almost runs right into me. I dodge out of the way as he takes off and pass Cameron Diaz and Bencio Del Toro. We go to sit on this little fence and proceed to watch Jared come back and Bencio, Cameron and Jared then finding their limo and getting in while saying goodbye to their friends.

As if that wasn’t enough, before we get up to leave, Tom Green and Drew Barrymore pass by to get to their car. It was a night of star spotting that’s for sure. I am sure there were a lot of other people there. It was that type of show. It didn’t feel like the crowd was filled with die hard Radiohead fans but rather people who wanted to go to the show just so they could say they went and appear hip. Whatever. It’s all about the music people and that’s why I was there. Our little star gazing adventure afterwards stemmed from our mission to find John Taylor. All in all it was a fun night.

The Others and more…

Saw The Others and it was creepy. It got under my skin and I know it was just a movie but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Had trouble sleeping. And it’s two nights later and images from the film are still popping up in my mind. Nicole was incredible. The whole cast was amazing.

Went to see Depeche Mode at the Pond last night. Dave Gahan is like a sex god. No he is a sex god. I haven’t been to an arena show in ages and the size of the crowd and how people were singing along, etc was moving. I like seeing shows at small clubs much better but arena shows in the right venue and with the right band can be a joyful experience too.

Speaking of wrong venues… I’ll be seeing Radiohead tomorrow night at the Hollywood Bowl which is not a great place for a concert. I wish it was the Greek. That’s the best outdoor venue I’ve been too I think. But the Greek is way smaller than the Bowl. I’ve never seen Radiohead so finally… there is no wedding, no out of town trip… I can finally go and see this band. I can’t wait.

new look

This blog has a new look… I loved the Moulin Rouge look but I was tired of frames so I went for a clean tables layout. I like it a lot… for once. Used Blur for inspiration. I’m calling this the blurry version.

Camped out for Radiohead tickets and we got them. My friend Eddie’s wristband was called first! It was a miracle since it sold out in like seconds.

I feel so tired still since we saw Missing Persons in Anaheim on Friday night (the crowd was more kick-ass at the Roxy on Thursday but this was a fun show too and not nearly as hot inside) then afterwards, we hung out to see Warren (which was a CRAZY experience). Then went to eat. Then went to the Hollywood Bowl to camp out. When we got there we saw a coyote in the streets which was a little freaky. I brought my tent thankfully. Made such a difference. After the ticket sale, which was so poorly run, I got my photos developed. It was like the most important role of film I’ve taken yet I think. It had my picture with Joe which turned out surprisingly beautiful considering I couldn’t hold a smile since I was shaking so much. It also had a picture I took of my friend Candice and Rick James (don’t ask) that is classic. There was a shot on there of Warren with Eddie and also my friend Vyolet with Warren and sexy Terry Bozio. All the photos came out gorgeous. Thank the good Duranie gods!

Kid A

Radiohead‘s new album ‘Kid A’ is beautiful. I saw them perform ‘Idoteque’ on SNL. It was amazing to see such innovation and originality and rocking out on American television. It was like a cool breeze after months of desert heat. Brilliant. Very sad that I can’t go see them Friday.

maybe not pointless

Hmm… I’ve been wanting to write in here for a while now. Many things have been happening. I’m addicted to watching the Olympics. And I’m super excited about Roswell‘s season premiere this Monday. It can’t come soon enough. I’m feeling much better than I have been though I still think my diet is lacking iron and is filled with far too much junk food. Need to start working out because I’m getting disgusted with myself. Unfortunately my idea of a good work out lately has been playing Age of Empires.

I saw the Bangles twice last week. The crowd was actually cool and filled with true fans for once! A lot less traumatic than the Duran shows. I still don’t know how I managed to survive that… and I did… though barely. The girls sounded and looked wonderful and they seemed to be having a good time. It was so much fun… Susanna Hoffs is absolutely gorgeous. She is so stunning in person… and tiny. They played everything… all their hits and new songs too. They were powerful on stage and very impressive. Can’t wait for the new album that’s due out next year.

Radiohead tickets go on sale this Saturday. I’m nervous. I REALLY want to get tickets. I heard this is their only show they are doing in the States to support their new album. So I’m definitely going to try… since I’ve never seen them live before.

Working on designs for this site… so far, it’s been fun. Can’t wait to get it all finished and ready to upload. Beware… and I went crazy and finally decided on a domain for this place… pop-trash.com. I’ve .org and .net too just in case. I may change the name leo productions to pop-trash designs. What do you think? It was so hard deciding on a domain… but in the end I just had to go for a Duran Duran reference cause well, I can’t help being who I am now can I…

Last night I went and saw a friend sing in this band she is in. I’ve never heard her before and it was so cool to see her up there on the stage doing her thing. I thought to myself she is so brave to put herself out there like that. But that’s her creative outlet… and in a way, while I put myself out to the whole world in a different setting, it sort of has parallels. I see what she does as brave and something I could never do because of fear (and a serious lack of singing ability). What I do on this site and all the writing and personal thoughts I publish on the web where anybody on the entire planet can come across it, might be something other’s see as brave. I don’t know. I can’t put my thoughts down clearly about all this… I’m rambling…

Time to stop before this post gets even more pointless.
